2011 Opening Ceremonies & the First Family

A spectacular ceremonial parade will launch the 133 year of the Canadian National Exhibition. The official ceremony takes place in front of the historic Princes’ Gates and features CNE’s 2011 First Family, dignitaries and CNE Officials. This year, the celebrations will pay tribute to the 75th Anniversary of the Bandshell and the 25th Anniversary of the Rising Star Talent Competition. CBC Radio’s Jill Dempsey and CBC News Network's Jacquie Perrin, return as Masters of Ceremonies for this year’s event.

2011 CNE First Family

The CNE is proud to announce the winner of the CHUM FM First Family Contest:  Kelly Boulianne from Oshawa, Ontario together with her 5 year old son Zachery, and her best friend Jessica Leitch and Jessica’s son Dominic!
 
In addition to the honour of being the First Family through the CNE gates, Kelly has won a seven day trip for four all-inclusive family vacation at The Grand Palladium Lady Hamilton Resort & Spa Imperial Club in Jamaica courtesy of Transat Holidays and $2,000 in spending thanks to BMO MasterCard. Kelly got to spend the night before Opening Day at the Westin Harbour Castle so that she and her son and friends could be with us bright and early on Opening Day morning. They were also given accommodation for the following night so that they could enjoy a long and fun day at the fair.
