The Olympic Torch is on its way to the Vancouver 2010 Winter Games and to celebrate the spirit the CNE will host an interactive winter sports experience for young and old alike.  Based on the highly popular success of last year’s Summer Games attraction, Celebrate the Olympic Spirit returns to the CNE with a focus on winter Olympic fun.  Learn how figure skaters move, how speed skaters train on dry land, and the skill involved in curling, bobsleigh, and biathlon. Kids of all ages can see, hear, and touch the Games, participating in hands-on interactive sports experiences and learning more about the Olympic Games, the Paralympic Games, the sports and the athletes.

Movie Themed Multi-Media Aerial Acrobatics & Ice Skating Show

Aerial acrobatics and ice skating return to the CNE in a spectacular multi-media extravaganza.  Building on the success and enormous popularity of the previous aerial, acrobatic & skating shows that the CNE has staged, most recently in its Salute to Broadway show of 2007, the CNE plans to take this performance concept to a new level by introducing a multi-media component including a giant screen on which film clips of popular well-known movies will be screened while their compelling soundtracks are performed.  Against this dramatic cinematic backdrop, 13 skaters including a duo and a soloist, together with aerial/acrobatic performers, singers and a musician will bring the movies showcased on the screen to vibrant life on the rink and in the air.  Movies to be featured include:  Top Gun, Moulin Rouge, Ghostbusters, High School Musical, Shrek, Dirty Dancing, the Godfather and Slumdog Millionaire.
