Canadian Forces Interactive Exhibit
Outdoors on Princes' Boulevard; daily

Based on the terrific response to their appearances at the CNE over the past three years, the Canadian Forces returns for a fourth consecutive summer.  Climb into the cockpit of a CF-18 plane, explore the world inside a tank, discover hands-on what our armed forces experience every day working abroad. Plus, send greetings to our troops overseas by sending a personal message on the Canadian Forces banner.

 

National Sand Sculpting Competition
Heritage Court, Direct Energy Centre

Congratulations to Melineige Beauregard of Québec who won First place in the 2009 competition!  Second place was awarded to Abe Waterman of Prince Edward Island and Third place was awarded to Fred Dobbs of British Columbia.

Congratuations to Sandi Sterling of Ontario for being voted the "Fan Favourite".  Sandi has won a prize of $2000.

For the first three days of the CNE, six sensational sculptors from across Canada will converge on the CNE to transform mounds of sand into works of art in the CNE’s first ever Sand Sculpting Competition.  Each competitor will be working with 10 tonnes of sand from which they will create their own individually inspired sculpture.  Sculptors confirmed to date are: Fred Dobbs and Jamie Salmon of British Columbia; Patricia Leguen of Saskatchewan; Sandi Sterling of Ontario, Melineige Beauregard of Québec, and Abe Waterman of Prince Edward Island

Sowing the Seeds of Heritage
Life in a Rural Community ----- The Farm, Better Living Centre, West Side

An interactive exhibit featuring the history of agriculture and small town life.  This exhibit focuses on the Life in a Rural Community as seen through the church, school, rail station, homestead, general store and farm. This exhibit has been developed by the museums in the region. 

Arts Crafts & Hobbies
Arts, Crafts & Hobbies Pavillion

The Arts Crafts & Hobbies Pavilion will once again be home to displays and interactive exhibits staged by arts organizations in the region as well as various local artists and groups.  Confirmed participants to date include the Art Gallery of Ontario; International Artists' Workshop; Canadian Theatre Museum; McMichael Gallery and The Ontario Artists' Porcelain Guild in workshops.
