Congratulations to Katherine Kasprzyk on her first runner-up win at the Canadian Youth Talent Competition, presented by the Canadian Association of Fairs and Exhibitions. Katherine is the Youth Grand Champion of the 25th Annual Rising Star Talent competition.

40th Annual Ambassador of the Fairs
The Canadian National Exhibition (CNE) is proud to announce Jocelyn Van Herk of the Mitchell and District Agricultural Society as the winner of the 40th annual Ambassador of the Fairs Competition. More than 70 winners, aged 18 to 25, representing local fairs across Ontario competed over three-days with the top seven semi-finalists competiting in the finals on Sunday, August 21. The finals were hosted by CTS Television’s Mindy Tweedle, and held in the Queen Elizabeth Theatre at 2 p.m. Ambassador of the Fair, (1995) Angela Hunter from Spencerville presented Jocelyn with her award.
Finalists showcased their poise, self-confidence and knowledge of Canadian agriculture. The Ambassador of the Fairs Competition is an annual CNE event.

Second Runner-up: Kelsey Allen - Arthur Agricultural Society
Congeniality Award: Robin Dercatch - Acton Agricultural Society

EXFEST Battle of the Bands Competition Winners
Congratulations to the winning bands from EXFEST: The Battle of The Bands® competition hosted by Supernova.com on August 23. Two hundred and ten (210) bands competed during qualifying events held in Hamilton, Kitchener, Barrie, Brampton, London, Ottawa, Kingston, Peterborough and Toronto but only nine bands earned a spot to compete at the CNE in the biggest independent music event of the season.
Bands that earned a spot to compete had the opportunity to play in front of hundreds of fans, representing their individual cities, and were awarded with cash prizes on the EXFEST stage by CNE President, James Melvin.
Celebrity judge Tyler Armes, bass player of the band Down With Webster, shared judging duties with fans who filled out ballots to vote on their top-three picks. Winning bands were judged on: originality of song; overall technique; professionalism; crowd reaction and artistic execution.
The following cash prizes were awarded to the winning bands:
Tea and Coffee : Toronto, Ontario 1st Place WINNER : $1,000.00
Shark Week : Oshawa, Ontario 2nd Place WINNER: $ 500.00
Lexia’s Aura : Toronto, Ontario 3rd Place WINNER: $ 250.00

2011 International Sand Sculpting Competition Winners
Congratulations to Fergus Mulvany from Ireland for his sculpture, Impact and Leonardo Ugolini from Italy for his sculpture, Atlas' Universal Change, who both tied for 1st Place.
3rd Place went to Thomas Koet from the United States for his sculpture, The Blind Leading The Blind.
Fans still have an opportunity to vote for their favourite sand sculpture. The Fan Favourite will be awarded a $2000 cheque.
2011 International Sand Sculpting Competition Fan Favourite
Congratulations to Thomas Koet (USA) for winning the Fan Favourite Award in the 2011 International Sand Sculpting Competition for his sculpture The Blind Leading the Blind.
CNEA Horse Show!
The CNEA Horse Show Competitions and the popular CNE HorseCapades interactive program will return for the 2012 CNE. All events take place in the Horse Palace and Ricoh Coliseum and admission is FREE before the CNE opens and free with the price of CNE admission from August 17th to September 3rd, 2012.

Ontario Hackney Show

Light Horse Competition (Under 1600 lbs.)
Ricoh Coliseum
Performance Classes of light horses include Hackney Horses, Hackney Ponies, Road Horses, Shetland Ponies, Morgans and Saddlebred Horses. Horses in this division will be judged being driven and ridden. Performance (way of going), manners, and equipment are the main judging criteria for these individual breeds.
Special classes of teams of horses and/or ponies demonstrating the horse and driver’s ability to communicate while maneuvering through obstacles and against the clock, will be featured.
Light Horse Youth Classes for girls and boys 21 years of ages and under demonstrating their skills in:
Riding - their ability to communicate with their horse in order to execute the judges’ commands.
Showmanship - their ability to present a horse in a specific pattern.

Heavy Horse Competition (More than 1600 lbs.)
Ricoh Coliseum
Performance classes of Heavy Horses including Belgian, Clydesdales and Percheron breeds will be judged on their performance and conformation, hitched to a wagon in the following configurations: single horse, team, unicorn, four and six horse hitches.
Individual classes of Belgians and Percherons will be judged on their bone and body structure and their ability to improve the breed with their offspring. Ages will range from three months to ten years of age and are shown on the halter.

Jumper Horse Competition

Jumpers - horses ridden will be judged on their ability to get over the jump without knocking it down and often racing against the clock.

Welsh & Open Pony Competition

Horse Palace Ring
The CNEA Horse Show is pleased to offer classes for the Welsh Pony and its four sections, primarily distinguished by height, but also by variations in type: the Welsh Mountain Pony (Section A), the Welsh Pony (Section B), the Welsh Pony of Cob Type (Section C), and the Welsh Cob (Section D). Welsh ponies and cobs are known for their good temperament, hardiness, and free-moving gaits. It is a popular children's pony.

Sport Pony Competition
A Sportpony is a pony in the general range of 13.2-14.2 hands that looks and moves like a small horse. The CNEA competition is a qualifying show for the Star Search final competition taking place at the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair in Toronto, Ontario. Sportponies will be judged on halter and ridden. The CNEA is pleased to offer a SPORTPONY STARSEARCH QUALIFER for the 2011 Royal Winter Fair Sportpony Show.

Miniature Horses Competition
Horse Palace Ring, Horse Palace
The Miniature Horse Show returns. The events will include conformation classes, obstacles, jumper and several different driving classes. The miniature horse, no taller than 38" at the withers is a very versatile breed which excels in many disciplines. The popularity of this breed is growing. This is the perfect opportunity to see everything they can do and to talk to owners. These little horses always put on a great show.
